Michael Jackson was the greatest to ever do it. Singing, writing, dancing, you name it. He was the ultimate artist and every musical genre feels the tremendous loss that came with his sudden passing. Hip hop is no different.

On Satureday, former Bad Boy artist Ma$e debuted his verse on Drakes ”Best I Ever Had” on DJ Clue’s radio show. According to listeners of the show (at time of posting we’re searching for show audio), Ma$e called into the show after Clue opened up the phone lines for comments. It was then implied that he’s down and ready to come back to the game despite contract issues that mean nothing to him, all he wants to do is rap.
He made it clear that he has no beef with Diddy and 50 Cent and no beef with anyone of his people from Harlem. Then Jim Jones called into the show to apologize to Ma$e for comments made to him three years ago on a radio show.
At press time we are looking for a direct audio of the show. This is just a listners account of what happened on the show.

HHLO.net would like to apolgize to the artists that were submitted to post today 6/26/09. Due to the extreme shift in how our energies were focused yesterday after the tragic loss of Michael Jackson finishing touches of the post were delayed.
Again we apologize for this and promise an extra packed extra special “On the Come Up” next week.

Its 2009 and clearly we are all in a state of a recession and the music industry is feeling the impact. Labels are down sizing and resentful when kicking out enormous budgets. Rumor has it, Bow Wow and Harlem’s own Jim Jones just got hit with the short end of the stick. After one album Jim Jones has been dropped from his contract with Sony Records and Bow Wow has also became a victim after more than 10 years with the label.
Looking like a result of album sales; more marketing dollars are being dished out than there is revenue coming in from album sales. According to inside sources, Sony spent 4.7 Million! Yes, Million on Jim Jones last album and less than half of that was put back into the cookie jar. Looks like Sony took a hard hit with that one. In Bow Wow’s case, his last projects have not been picking up good numbers; and let’s not forget the album with Omarion was a failure.
Well, with both being free agents, I wonder where they’ll end up. Independent, maybe? Or maybe Bow Wow will take his statements of retiring more seriously.

Artist: B.o.B. aka Bobby Ray
Mixtape: B.o.B. vs Bobby Ray (DJ Green Lantern & Don Cannon)

Everyone’s got a Top 5 (and yes, they can be dead or alive). So what do you base your Top 5 anything on (artist, group, duo, dj)? Is it their sick flow? The depth
of their lyrics, or who’s the rawest live? Is it a combination of all? There have been many debates on what the “industry standards” are for choosing Top Lists, but who really should be listened to is the public!
Comment below or answer in the poll.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.Posted in Ear to Da Streetz0 Comments

The 5th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival saw a huge turnout last Saturday despite all the bad weather. A massive tent was set up to shelter attendees but it wasn’t big enough for everyone, prompting Brooklyn Bodega founder, Wes Jackson, to apologize for underestimating the fans’ dedication.
And dedicated they were. Heads stood in a cramped space for over four hours, bearing with heat, moisture and undoubtedly holding back trips to the bathroom to hold down their spot.
Was it worth it?
Even though artists’ sets got cut shorter and shorter as the show progressed, due to unwelcome political endorsements (especially after a Dead Prez set). It’s safe to say, any fan who loves hip hop, and music in general, got much more than their money’s worth (a $10 dollar donation was suggested). They were exposed to some of the newest emcees making noise like Torae (w/ Marco Polo) along with some of the illest veteran emcees like Pharoah Monch. Throw in a few surprise guests like Milk Dee and Black Thought and you’ve got one hell of a hip hop festival.
