Have Jim Jones & Bow Wow Been Dropped from Sony?

jim-jonesIts 2009 and clearly we are all in a state of a recession and the music industry is feeling the impact. Labels are down sizing and resentful when kicking out enormous budgets. Rumor has it, Bow Wow and Harlem’s own Jim Jones just got hit with the short end of the stick. After one album Jim Jones has been dropped from his contract with Sony Records and Bow Wow has also became a victim after more than 10 years with the label.

Looking like a result of album sales; more marketing dollars are being dished out than there is revenue coming in from album sales. According to inside sources, Sony spent 4.7 Million! Yes, Million on Jim Jones last album and less than half of that was put back into the cookie jar. Looks like Sony took a hard hit with that one. In Bow Wow’s case, his last projects have not been picking up good numbers; and let’s not forget the album with Omarion was a failure.

Well, with both being free agents, I wonder where they’ll end up. Independent, maybe? Or maybe Bow Wow will take his statements of retiring more seriously.
