Mike Beck, an aspiring rapper and affiliate of Fat Joe was shot and killed last night in Brooklyn, New York.
Mike Beck was a member of the rap collective K.A.R. (Kill All Rats), which also featured group members Rob Kash, Onez and Leader.
Sources told AllHipHop.com that Beck was shot and killed on Logan and Bellmar Street in Brooklyn, and that a botched robbery attempt could have been the motive.

In addition to Fat Joe and Pistol Pete, K.A.R.’s mixtape features guest appearances from Ace Hood, Sheek Louch, Hell Rell, DJ Khaled, Jadakiss and others.
Beck was born and raised in East New York. At the age of 17, he was sent to prison for five years, for his role in a murder.
A number of artists expressed their condolences via Twitter.
“R.I.P. Mike Beck!!!!!” Fat Joe Tweeted, as did Cool & Dre, DJ Khaled, Noreaga, Raekwon and others.

This mix by no means represents every hip hop act going on stage for CMJ’s annual music marathon, but it does a good job covering the hip hop melting pot. Each DJ gets half the mix to pull in some of the best from the East (Jadakiss) to West (Snoop Dogg), Underground (Bekay) to Mainstream (Drake), and Vets (M.O.P) to Newcomers (Fashawn), all the while exhibiting their mixing and scratching abilities like every good DJ should. Coming from a city like Minneapolis, I can’t stress to you enough how much we don’t get the recognition we rightly deserve in this city. Since the birth of hip hop music, there is no denying that regardless of the expansion of the genre’s widespread appeal, New York and California are still the front runners for most of hip hop’s recognition. Another city that has been floating under the radar is Wichita, Kansas. Though this wasn’t the birthplace or a second home for hip hop, it was the birthplace for Donovan Johnson, better known to the digital era of music as “X.V” Continue Reading

I’ve got to make a confession. Once every blue moon I can’t mess with the lyrical rapper stuff. Concepts, stories, wordplay, etc. all go out the window. Usually, its when things aren’t going so well, money ain’t coming in, and you could care less about how cleverly somebody put some metaphors together. You just want to do one of two things: get motivated and do better or get ig’nant and do bad by taking it out on the next person you see. Juicy J teams up with DJ Drama to provide you with the soundtrack for either path. Play Me Some Pimpin 2! Continue Reading
