Feature Mixtape: Juicy J "Play Me Some Pimpin' 2" hosted by DJ Drama

I’ve got to make a confession. Once every blue moon I can’t mess with the lyrical rapper stuff. Concepts, stories, wordplay, etc. all go out the window. Usually, its when things aren’t going so well, money ain’t coming in, and you could care less about how cleverly somebody put some metaphors together. You just want to do one of two things: get motivated and do better or get ig’nant and do bad by taking it out on the next person you see. Juicy J teams up with DJ Drama to provide you with the soundtrack for either path. Play Me Some Pimpin 2!The rappers on this mixtape aren’t exactly going to give you quotables, at least not in the traditional sense. If you’re familiar with the Three 6 Mafia, you know it’s all about the delivery. Check “Hood Sprung” and listen to the conviction Juicy J puts behind the simplest of 16’s. You’ve got to feel him, especially on the hook “i’m hood sprung, street stuck, money hungry, ain’t givin’ up, until i git mine, i got a glock 9, and if it come down to it, i’ma take mine”. On “Morning Paper” Project Pat throws that trademark swerve on his words,  turning some of the rawest verses pop-music-catchy. Other guests like Gucci Mane, Webbie and OJ Da Juiceman are cut from the same cloth. Rappers who couldn’t come up with a complex line to save their lives, but are undoubtedly top-tier when it comes to riding a beat.

Hate the South all you want, but these rappers are making catchy songs for the people. If you can understand an intricate rhyme and can’t understand that, you already played yourself.
