Gucci Mane Sent to Prision for One Year for Probation Violation

Gucci Mane’s celebrity has risen over the past year, and as he gears up for the release of his major label debut, The State vs. Radrick Davis, the rapper hits a road block — a prison sentence.

According to MTV, Gucci was sentenced to one year in prison on Thursday (November 12) for a probation violation and was immediately hauled off to prison following his sentencing.

This isn’t the first time the rapper has gone through legal problems. There’s been several incidents over the past few years. In 2005, he was being investigated on a murder charge, but the charges were dropped a year later due to insufficient evidence. During that same period, Gucci was serving time for assaulting a nightclub promoter a year prior.

Then, in September 2008, Gucci was arrested for a parole violation after failing to complete a court-ordered 600 hours of community service. He completed just 25 hours. He was sentenced to a year in prison, and was released after serving six months.

With this new sentence, he’s expected to be released in six months, if all goes well while incarcerated.

Things on the outside must go on though. Gucci’s upcoming album is set to hit stores on December 8th, at the height of his career. The current single is “Spotlight” featuring Usher.

In 2009, the rapper has appeared on tracks with everyone from Mariah Carey and the Black Eyeds Peas to Omarion and 50 Cent.
