Just Words With Jen: Dat Baby?

I may seem like I’m contradicting my last blog to some, but I have reached a level with Hip Hop Radio that I may never, ever go back. All this week, I’ve been struggling with something to write about, there’s so much I could say, but I was waiting on my muse to come along. And while listening to the radio yesterday, I found it! I may get harsh and critical in this blog, so all the haters can take note…this is only my opinion, and I’m mad. I may have to boycott.

Songs like the one I’m about to talk about make it harder and harder for me to speak my side of the love of Hip Hop debates to people who don’t understand Hip Hop and the reason I love it!

Mo Money Mo Problems

I guess Mr. So-Called “Best Rapper Alive” may actually be living up to the status, if not the reality of this statement.  In late 2007, Lil Wayne was sued by a N.O. Jewler for a diamond ring and a gold-and-diamond necklace he purchased, totaling in a suit of $146,000.  Allegedly he has received no money from the N.O. native, but hopes it has all been a “misunderstanding.” Lil’ Wayne

Following, just days before the release of Mr. Carter’s multi-platinum album, “Tha Carter III,” Lil Wayne was sued by Le Marck de Andre for defaulting on payments for his 1999 Bentley Arnage.  You would guess that by this time Weezy would have enough “rain” to pour down on these “ho’s” (such as the amount that landed his August 2007 lawsuit from a Morgan State student.)  Apparently Le Marck de Andre & friends are attempting to get F. Baby for $123,800 along with $200 extra per day for the damages.  But that’s last month’s lawsuit.

Recently Birdman Jr. has been sued by Abcko Music Inc due to allegations that his song “Playin’ With Fire”(off his latest) was illegally copied from a Rolling Stones track.  (What boggles me is that the lyrics aren’t the SAME but are SIMILAR… obviously these guys aren’t “hip” to the hip hop trend)… I’m not sure if I should say I hope he continues to get more money to help with these lawsuits, or if he should get less to make them go away…… SMH
