Underground Online Battle: Wordsmith vs. Rico Paysos

{column1}

Wordsmith

Location: All over

Member(s): Solo Artist

Age: Unknown

Status: Unknown

Affiliations: Chubb Rock, I.N.C the Poet, Liason Records

Bio: WORDSMITH can claim many areas around the globe as his home. The son of a former Full Colonel in the Army, he has resided in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Delaware, Texas, Kansas and even Germany to name a few. After moving around so much, Word found rap as an outlet when he started saving his lunch money each week throughout high school to buy classic tapes from Redman, Big L, Nas, Eric B. and Rakim, Jeru the Damaja, A tribe called Quest, Da Bush Babees, Krs One, Gangstarr, Das Efx, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, and his cousin Roc Marciano. Though, Wordsmith is a versatile MC, he is also a theater trained actor graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts from Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland. Performing in plays like “All my Sons” and the Musical “1776,” Word was able to translate his acting skills to his music and live shows. He refers to his stage shows as “Hip-Hop Plays” and his dream is to put together elaborate shows with scenery changes, props, and stunning movements. As the years go by, look for Wordsmith to explore his artistic side in music and acting equally. However, as he always says “I’ll do one thing at a time to make sure each craft exhibits quality and gets the attention it deserves. In 2006, Word knew he had to take his music to the Next Level as he put it and he did just that by releasing a Radio Smash called “Mami Chula,” which features Universal Recording Artist Rob G. It debuted on Canada’s Number one urban station 103.7, The Monster and Japan’s number 1 urban station, Joint One Radio 76.1 FM, on the same day, October 24th, 2006. Word’s underground single, Season of the MC, debuted on Comcast Cable Music Choice in October to complete the package. Overall Word currently has well over 6 tracks in rotation on Comcast Music Choice and that afforded Wordsmith the opportunity to debut his next level stage show on Adelphia/Comcast Cable’s Backstage Pass Show on January 22nd, 2007. Word displayed a Live stage show that involved numerous props ranging from fake snow, fake rain, umbrellas, tables, chairs, leaves, confetti and more. Wordsmith doesn’t want to wait until he has access to a major set as he feels like he can accomplish his vision right now by being very persistent in his craft. 2009 is definitely looking like Wordsmith’s year as he opens the doors to more business ventures.

SHANGO’S Perspective: Peaceful Journey, Wordsmith delivers a positive one to grow on type vibe. For those that feel Hip Hop has taken a cartoonishly negative plunge you’ll find something of what you’re looking for here. The song is up tempo and it’s liable to have you feeling all Disney inside, as apposed to the majority of radio. Wanna get more from him drop a vote below and get him in for an interview. It’s on you. Me I am merely the crazed Cesar bringing these gladiators face to face for your pleasure and entertainment. The arena is HHLO…enjoy, then let your voice be heard. PEACE

Rico Paysos

Location: Hempstead, Long Island

Member(s): Solo Artist

Age: Unknown

Status: Unsigned

Affiliations: Dj Johnny “Juice” Rasado, Public Enemy, 4daluvofmoney Inc.

Bio: Rap artist, songwriter, and lyricist Rico Paysos, has been perfecting his talents as an emcee for the last seven years. Born and raised in the same place as Hip Hop, “The Boogie Down” Bronx, New York, he would later relocate to Hempstead, Long Island. Rico Paysos speaks about his experiences and about every view of his life as he has seen while walking the top of the devil’s roof. Whether it is cash, drugs, crime, women, lust, dreams, love, struggles and the come up; Rico Paysos is not afraid to share his soul and experience with his audience. His music does not merely speak about life; it is Life, because everyone can relate to it. Long Island has been a whisper in the rap game since the eras of such greats as Public Enemy, Rakim, Biz Markie, Keith Murray and E.P.M.D. Paysos is a rebirth of the past legends as far as creating his own distinctive sound, a unique flow along with a profound vocabulary, which allows for his creative wordplay. Rico defines an emcee and wishes to create his own milestone in Hip Hop. A man with a thousand flows, you’ll never here the same one twice. Paysos is not only an emcee; he is a songwriter, for himself and various Hip Hop and R&B talents. In 2004 He established his own music group 4daLuvOfMoney Inc adding the titles CEO & Founder to his resume’.

SHANGO’S Perspective: Benz Rollin up. Now if you’re in the mood for something flashy and perhaps catchy, with accessible lyrics and in a strange way…fun this is the perfect jacket for you. I can tell Rico was aiming for an audience with this. It definitely has a lot of energy. But your opinion is the one that will Rico’s interview at battles end. So if you like it drop the vote. HHLO UGOB.

UGOB Winner: Oatz Interview

Flying down a rainy road, just left a gig. I rushing to the home of last weeks champion Sparks Skilz to sit down with this weeks champ, Oats. Now at this point I am dead tired and I am attempting to fight off Montezuma’s revenge. But I am a soldier and I am on a mission. They wanna hear what the new winner has to say. And I am gonna pick his brain.

Let me first make a retraction Oats the champion if from Paterson, N.J. that was my mistake when I posted that. Pardon self.

HHLO: Yeah ya’ll already know Shango Gutta HHLO, I’m here with the champion Oats the man yo INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ is holding it down the track record is beautiful. Oats how you man?

OATS: I’m doing alright man INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ how you? It’s ya boy Oats in the spot man…..what’s going on?

HHLO: Yeah lets jump right into it I know ya’ll busy men an all that. Yo, this shit jumped into my mind ever since I first heard your name. Who is Oats and what’s the science behind that name?

OATS: Well um…Oats is young, fresh, new, and talented. What is Oats, encrypted Only Ambition Turns the Soul you nah’mean.

HHLO: Wait, wait, wait, please say that again closer to the Mic. I want them to hear that. That shit is fly.

OATS: Oats is Only Ambition Turns the Soul, right now you know. And you can take it however you get you know.

HHLO: Hmmmmm…only ambition turns the soul. Shango Gutta, I told you be; I only fucking put real ni**as on the battle be. And real ni**as win and shit yo.

OATS: (laughs).

HHLO: Let me get back into it. Sometimes I kinda get inspired then I start ranting and raving and shit. But this is Oats time…hold up. How’d you get down with INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ?

OATS: Well I mean initially I started in a group down south. And um, I was thinking about making some real big career moves and uh I linked up with my dad he was telling me that he was affiliated with INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ. And he was giving me some pointers on how I can move into the…..the industry. He was telling me about Sparks and couple of other artist he was venturing with as far as management/CEO of the company. So I decided to move into a solo type of thing, you know. Get into my own thing, start working on my own music, move more into the business and….build up a name for myself as well as market other artist and build up INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ. That’s what we do.

HHLO: Focus, that’s peace that’s peace. Building with me man Spark Skilz you know, your name kept coming up and the phrase that pays was “Oats is next, Oats is next”. Almost like they we’re building a campaign around you, like you’re the next go to man. How does that feel?

OATS: Well it feels great actually man but like I feel like if I ain’t ready I don’t want it yet, when it’s time it will happen. I’mma just roll with the punches and dodge with the jabs, you know ‘til the time is right I’m gonna be there and I’mma still keep being oats.

HHLO: (laughs) Aight this kid is winning me over, dig ya style word? Um Album/mix tape?

OATS: Nah no album right now I’m just doing promotional music right now. It’s for the fans now. When I start moving into the industry labels start talking some money, then I may pull an album out the stash or something like that but until then it’s all promotion know what I mean it’s for the fans.

HHLO: How you stay connected to ‘em, the fans?

OATS: Music, MySpace, however you know what I mean. I mean fans face to face, you know what I mean. Some people ask me for autographs here and there you know I just keep it cool keep it regular I don’t really be on that superstar fame type shit. I pretty much be on some real to me real t you.

HHLO: This question just came to my mind, a lot of cats your age my age like when they begin their career they become standoffish and shit. It seems like it is important you have that connection with your fans, why don’t you build on that. How important is it to be……approachable by the people that appreciate your music?

OATS: I mean me usually…I feel it is great cause usually speak in the 3rd person about myself I don’t want to be too self centered and I want to make it real to the fans you know what I mean. A lot of fans feel like celebrities are out of touch you know what I mean like they can’t be reached. Like they don’t really get to see their favorite artists. Me I’m right here I am always gonna be here, shows in your local areas anywhere you need me I am there you know. It’s Oats all day.

HHLO: Buck! Dirty Jerz yeah. Veering of the music thing for a second, you voting?

OATS: Yeah I’m gonna vote, I’m gonna vote.

HHLO: Now I’ll ask why. Cause I feel that as a brother voting I feel it’s important I want you just to let people know, a lot of cats your age aren’t interested in voting. Not just cause of this election but why do you feel it is important to vote?

OATS: Point of voting, because right now a lot of young people I see…our generation as flashy we throwing a lot of money away you know what I am saying, as young adults. In the future there’s not gonna be nothing to invest in. you’re not gonna have anything for you’re families great grands and so on. So voting right now will be kinda helping contributing to your future on a democratic or republican party whichever you choose. Right now you can start by just voting getting a good influence behind a good light. A influence that will direct you in a right path. A lot of young brothers are into a lot of street stuff you know what I mean, things other than success. So I think it’s important to vote because you manifesting your future basically.

HHLO: Me and Sparks Skilz was talking last time and again bring on the shameless promoting Sparks is screaming “vote Oats for president” all day.(room laughs). Plug yourself and plug your movement. Yes! Do it again go, more. Ya’ll got a connection with Hellahansum build on that.

OATS: With Hellahansum, it’s not like we work for them or they work for us, we basically work together. It’s an exchange of services. Eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth. Basically they got some thing we might can use; we got something’s they might can use such as artists. And they got some service that we really haven’t touched on yet. And we got the talent that they can’t really get they hands on right now and they got a lot of promotion so we figured this would be a good co-op.

HHLO: Word is bond a lot more cats should do things like that, you just inspired another question. As a budding movement how important do you feel it is for other movements to interact? For dudes to build and shit.

OATS: It’s very important because a lot of people that don’t build they’re only like cutting each other out. In the industry it’s like everybody wants to be that dude. Everybody wants to be on top bumping each other and in exchange people that do want to help are afraid of furthering contacts or venturing with other people because of that. They think that the person is trying to bump them or move further past them in rank. I feel it’s important because even if I eat, even if I get full off the industry I feel there is enough for my team to eat too. I ain’t just trying to be you know me. I am willing and anybody who want to work with INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ it’s here. We ain’t signing no deals or nothing but all services are there what these labels is offering with no strings attached. So anything that happens it’s all on you not us feel me. It’s all about work ethic and that on you feel me.

HHLO: Ok ok I am off the beaten path again. You 19 right what’s with this emu craze going on? First I wanna say metro sexuality is not what you dudes think it is fellas? A lot of ya’ll cats is kinda suspect, but anyway. Emo tight pants, tight shirt, tight shit

OATS: I mean I feel a lot a guys that wear tight clothes they into whatever they into that’s they business. Me I don’t personally have a problem with anybody that dress like that. I! just don’t just don’t have any interest in it. Anybody that’s doing it more power to them, if that’s really them. If you doing it to be like somebody else well I guess that’s good to because at least you looking up to some body. As far as they whole tight close movement brothers more power to them but, Oats is not into that.

HHLO: Oats for president man, very well said because I am a shit starter and he avoided that. Properly! Bravo. Sorry this was on my mind all day. Laura London is an actress been in a couple of movies. Beautiful dimples awww man. If you had a chance man Laura London or Cassie. Now be careful with ya answer cause that’s my wifey (in my head).

OATS: If I had a chance to do what?

HHLO: To do what? Anything you wanted to!

OATS: I mean maybe a date I would consider Laura London based on looks. But I am not really into looks it’s a little more than how a chick looks. I’ve seen plenty of beautiful women; I mean for god sakes I can say I am a pretty handsome dude. I could carry it the same way a female would carry it. But they are at high ranking status right now; a lot of guys go for them. And I probably would take both of them out on a date if I had the opportunity. Anything other that that I probably would not want to get into with them

HHLO: Word! If they said ravage me know right in front of you..

OATS: Nah, I would probably take it as an insult you know what I mean…

HHLO: No. (Room laughs for a minute).

OATS: I would really just bite off of someone just taking off their clothes and just giving it to me.

HHLO: That’s some kings shit. And I’m a king as well. But in that moment I am a totally savage, sorry. Khan straight up. What attracts you about a female?

OATS: I like a nice body.

HHLO: Any particular area?

OATS: Nah she gotta have everything not one without the other. You can have aight feet aight face. But if ya body tight you good. We can last long with that.

HHLO: (Baffled) word!?!?…….that’s heavy. Wow, influences.

OATS: I got a lot of influences Sparks, Hellahansum, HipHopLivesOnine. I mean there’s so many things I can look at and take a drive you know it’s like more promotion. Like because of this I should do this you know what I mean. It’s like……a influence basically. I just go off of everything that comes at me. Like any opportunity I get as far as promotion, artists, and websites I’m like so enthusiastic about. Cause it’s an opportunity for me and them as well. The music the product speaks for itself, I don’t really talk about music too much. I let people listen and it goes as far as it will go. And that’s it on influences. Artist Spark skills other artists in the industry. I feed off a lot of stuff different angles I can build and become ahead of the game.

HHLO: Ok. Yo word is bond you are a very eloquent thinker and have a very visual and vivid thought process. I would like for you to leave the people with one to grow on. Drop a jewel for them, please.

OATS: Well look ya boy Oats will be coming out soon. I mean I am the next upcoming artist ya’ll can look for with the Spark Skilz INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ. Contact us myspace/qua67. Spark Skilz ya boy Oats anyhow you can get to us. You can Google INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ. Contact us that’s all I gotta say contact us, and you’ll be on the road to success man. It’s ya boy Oats. Over and Out.

HHLO: Well said I really thoroughly enjoyed that right there yo. You word is bond INDUSTRYINDASTREETZ you are a problem for these cats. Word this is Shango Gutta. I am fucking happy I love life…and you should too. Read a mo’fucking book. PEACE!!!!!!!!!
