The assembly process may take up to 1.5 hours and the good news is that providing a foundation isn’t an absolute necessity. Thanks to it having a relatively compact size and being a horizontal type it’s enough to have flat ground to lay it on, although, for the warranty to remain intact, the manufacturer recommends placing it on a foundation or platform and anchoring it. If you want, you can also add shelves, as the panels allow for add-ons, but those are not included with the purchase. Another helpful feature is the gliding lid that can be slid back, which gives walk-in access when you open the double doors. We purchased a pergola at Recreation Unlimited in June of 2019. There were repeated delays, and we finally got the pergola constructed in September. This year, on returning from our winter home, we found several issues with the pergola - the wood was not properly treated, the holes not pre-drilled properly, there are large cracks and splits in the entire structure. I keep hearing that the problem is with the company from which R.U. obtained the wood. I don't care, really, I gave my money to R.U. and they have yet to make this good. The problem was reported in March, and it is now mid-August. Attorney is our next step. Very frustrating!
