A GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Blended Learning course is the same training as a normal GWO BST but delivered as a blended model of learning where you familiarise yourself with essential knowledge based content in your own time, ahead of the practical training. This can help you get up to speed in advance, and make the most of the practical sessions. There are a number of other benefits such as saving you time and money.

The course is for personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields, and will carry out their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or offshore wind structure.

Completion of the e-learning modules, ahead of the onsite demonstration and practical sessions, provides a number of benefits:

• 24/7 access to resources: Learning can take place at a time and location that is most convenient for you. Access to the e-learning content is retained over the entire validity period of the GWO certification - typically 24 months.

What it is GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Blended Learning

A GWO Basic Safety Training Blended Learning course is for personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields, and will carry out their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or offshore wind structure.

The aim of the BST is to enable participants to support and care for themselves and others working in the industry by possessing the knowledge and skills of First Aid, Working at Height, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Sea Survival and in case of an emergency, the ability to evacuate, rescue and provide appropriate First Aid to casualties.

The blended learning courses and modules are designed in strict alignment with the GWO Standard, and have recently been certified by Bureau Veritas for delivery across our training centres in Denmark, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK.

How it works

The modules are based on a ‘flipped classroom’ approach, whereby participants have upfront access to their selected e-learning modules for up to 30 days prior to attendance of the associated onsite practical training.

The upfront, self-paced, e-learning covers the theoretical, knowledge and understanding components of the course, which would traditionally be delivered in a classroom by an instructor.

Where you can take it

GWO BST is available through our training centres in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom.

Please note: The e-Learning modules are currently available in English only.

Further information

• The e-Learning can be started up to 4 weeks (maximum) prior to the classroom start date.
• The e-Learning must be completed no later than 48 hours prior to initial classroom attendance date. As such, the latest you can sign up for the Blended Course is four days prior to the classroom start date, to give plenty of time to complete the e-learning modules.
• Our system will send notification reminders to the student, and email confirmation of completion to the booker and instructors. We will also confirm all completions to the booker/instructors, 48 hours prior to the initial classroom start date.
• A valid WINDA ID is to be submitted upon application, and is mandatory for identification at the training centre. The WINDA ID is the delegate’s unique GWO identification number.
• Upon successful completion of the upfront e-Learning content, students are issued a RelyOn Nutec approved certificate of completion, which will allow progression on to the classroom-based session/s
