Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) and Travel Safely By Boat Initial Training (OPITO Approved)

Objective

The objectives of the T-BOSIET (with CA-EBS) including Travel Safely by Boat Initial Training are that delegates will be able to:

1) Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oul and gas installations, potential risks assciated with those hazards, and how controls are put in place to elimanate or reduce risks.

2) Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts

3) Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies - with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching

4) Ensure delegates are familiar with the use of the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS)

5) Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques

6) Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practise self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, to include smoke filled areas.

7) Demonstrate donning of an appropriate floatation device as used during boat transfers e.r., work-vest

8) Demonstrate a method of transfer between a simulated boat deck and a simulated fixed installation deck using swing rope transfers with luggage transfers

Target Group

The aim of the T-BOSIET (with CA-EBS) including TSBB is to introduce delegates to the specific safety inssues and regimes relevant to offshore installations, and to equip them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for travelling to and from offshore installations in a tropical environment eirther by helicopter or tranferring safely by boat.

Prerequisites

All delegate must either:

1) Possess a valid, current offshore medical certificate or

2) Possess an operator approved medical certificate, or

3) Undergoes medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by the OPITO- approved centre
