We had a royal visitor to our exhibition area at WindEurope Offshore 2019 as HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark came by to watch a demonstration of our sea survival safety training in a 60 m2 pool we built especially for the conference, in a first for its kind.
WindEurope Offshore 2019, took place in Copenhagen from 26 to 28 November. Now in its third year, the three day international conference is aimed at the offshore wind energy industry. It shows how offshore wind will help Europe go carbon neutral. An unmissable event in the wind energy calendar for the latest insights, trends and networking.
We were thrilled to host Crown Prince Frederik who attended the opening day of the conference and gave the opening address. The Crown Prince, who was joined poolside by our CEO Torben Harring, watched up close safety demonstrations being carried out by our experienced instructors.
As the official Global Wind Organisation (GWO) demonstration partner we were present at the conference, to increase the focus on - and highlight the importance of - realistic training for the offshore wind industry.
Situated in the Safety Skills and Training Zone, a unique 200m² area showcasing the industry’s commitment to an injury free working environment in offshore wind and supported by GWO, the pool was certainly a big draw at the conference - attended by an estimated 9,000 visitors.
It was part of a series of safety demonstrations we showed the industry that also included advanced rescue training from a 6+ metre high scaffold and slinger signalling training, incorporating crane, hook and load. Our demonstrations featured live audio commentary and video images projected onto a screen for spectators to get an understanding of the safety procedures being executed.
